Approved Site Plan for O'Donnell
The History of O'Donnell
In December 2008, the Carmichael Recreation and Park District completed a master plan for the 9.3 acre O'Donnell Park site. The Plan called for sale of 3.3 acres from the site to generate funds for park development.
Many neighbors opposed selling land and reducing the size of this future park. The neighbors have rallied together and are committed to raising $235,000 through a combination of cash donations, corporate grants, and contributions of equipment and materials and volunteer labor. Above you can click on the plan approve in December 2008 and the potential alternative plan approved in March. Representatives from the neighborhood proposed an alternate plan which would retain all the land for a park. On March 19, 2009, the District Advisory Board agreed to replace the previously approved plan with the neighborhood proposed plan if the neighborhood could donate enough funds to eliminate the need to sell any portion of the site.
The O'Donnell Neighborhood has created their own web site to raise awareness about the park site. If you are interested in visiting the site go to www.odonnellneighborhoodpark.org

Sutter/Jensen Community Park Site
Sutter/Jensen Approved Conceptual Plan
October 23, 2008 the Carmichael Recreation and Park District Advisory Board gave conceptual approval for the Sutter/Jensen Park Site Master Plan with certain stipulations. One of the stipulations was that Staff try to reduce the amount of land proposed for sale. Staff provided an alternative Site Plan that shows a reduction in land proposed to be sold. At the December 18, 2008 Advisory Board meeting the board gave conceptual approval of this alternate plan. The plan has been submitted to the Sacramento County for an environmental review consistent with CEQA. Following the CEQA process the plan will be submitted to the County Board of Supervisors for approval.
On October 28, 2009 the Advisory Board of Directors approved waiting sell any land for one year to give residents an opportunity to organize and raise funds for the Sutter/Jensen Community Park.
